| "Our team of 7 ladies spent 2 weeks at Mooring House. The rooms were so spacious and daily cleaned excellently. We had plenty of hot water for all of us to shower at once. The view and grounds are beautiful and located very conveniently to sites, mall, etc. Garry and Miriam prepared wonderful breakfasts for us and coordinated with our schedule just as we needed. The hosts also gave us excellent recommendations for shopping, laundry, eating out and they personally aided us when two of our group became ill. Their service to us went beyond the "call of duty". They provided help and answers for our every need. I hesitate making this review only because I hope Mooring House won't become so popular that I won't be able to get a reservation in the future. Goedeavond,
Jullie mailadres heb ik als referentie opgekregen van Garry Yates.
Ik zou graag weten hoe jullie het verblijf in zijn lodge ervaren hebben en of je niet te ver zit van Capetown zelf ivm het op en neer
rijden. Wij willen daar boeken de 1e 4 nachten van ons verblijf.
Het is onze 1e kennismaking met Zuid Afrika en we weten totaal niet wat we kunnen verwachten. Je hoort af en toe vervelende
verhalen over veiligheid en zo.
We vertrekken 23 februari, komen 28 maart terug en willen de Tuinroute gaan rijden.

Geachte mevrouw Lauvenberg,
wij hebben in de afgelopen 4 jaar twee maal gedurende een week gebruikt gemaakt van Gerry Yates' guesthouse in Somerset
West.
De familie is buitengewoon vriendelijk, behulpzaam, prettig en gastvrij. De kamers (eigenlijk appartementjes) zijn comfortabel en
goed ingericht met een leuke tuin en een prettig en schoon, zwembad. Het guesthouse ligt in een nette buurt van Somerset West,
goed bereikbaar vanaf de autowegen, met een kleine supermarkt voor de dagelijkse levensbehoeften op loopafstand, en toch ook
niet ver van het centrum van Somerset West. Het complex is afgesloten van de weg, beveiligd door een bewakingsdienst en het
gezin heeft volgens mij tenminste één hond. Overigens hebben wij gelukkig geen onprettige ervaringen gehad met de veiligheid.
Somerset West ligt ca 40 km over de autoweg van Kaapstad, ca 30 minuten rijden. Zelf auto rijden is heel goed te doen in Zuid
Afrika, de wegen zijn goed (met links verkeer ) en het is er niet zo druk als in Nederland (in Kaapstad kan het wel behoorlijk druk
zijn).
Somerset West is een zeer goede uitvalsbasis voor tochtjes door het aangrenzende wijnland, de z.g. wijn route, en bezoeken aan
Stellenbosch (een must), Paarl en Franshoek. Het guesthouse ligt op ca 4 km van het strand en er zijn golfbanen in de omgeving
indien u of uw reispartners daar belangstelling voor hebben. Ook bezoeken aan Kaapstad, Kaap de Goede hoop en en plaatsen
verderop langs de kust zijn goed bereikbaar. Mocht u na uw eerste 4 dagen de bedoeling hebben de "tuinroute" verderop langs de
kust te gaan volgen dan is Somerset West, aan de autosnelweg A1 (??) een prima startpunt.
Gerry heeft zeer veel informatie over de mogelijkheden en interessante dingen in de omgeving en over restaurants,
wijnboerderijen, winkels etc.. Hij is zeer behulpzaam in het regelen van zaken zoals afhalen van/brengen naar het vliegveld,
regelen van een huurauto, bespreken van een afslagtijd op een golfbaan enz.
Ik hoop u met bovenstaande informatie voldoende indruk te hebben gegeven. Ik kan het adres echt aanbevelen voor de start van
uw bezoek aan Zuid Afrika.
Ik ben er van overtuigd dat u een fijne vacantie zult hebben in dat mooie land.
